The presentation provides a history of UL and walks attendees through UL standards and how they relate to current codes and what the term “Listed” really means to an AHJ. We will look at UL certifications and services, and demonstrate how AHJs can use these to assist with everyday duties such as plan review or inspections and discuss the standards that often apply to these duties, such as UL 300 and other lesser known standards. In addition we will also explore new resources for AHJ’s to use in order to find listed products and assemblies, and how to locate any allowable modifications to UL designs. Finally we touch on UL’s fire research and will examine how fires have changed over the years.
