The Role

The position of Vice President / CBO would be a new position within CCI created to give support to the President with executive level tasks as well as to oversee our current projects and to supervise and mentor the Inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily inspections, route employees efficiently, prioritize clients’ needs according to our resources for that day.
  • Provide building, plumbing and mechanical inspections as needed to supplement inspection staff workload.
  • Effectively select, supervise, mentor, motivate, and evaluate the inspector team.
  • Hold regular face-to-face meetings with employees to identify potential problems and solutions, including walking various job sites together.
  • Field calls/emails from contractors, architects, PM’s, etc. to work to find code solutions and to problem solve.
  • Assist President with preparing statements of qualifications, and proposals, developing and supporting the delivery of presentations in response to RFP’s.
  • Attend local & national chapter meetings and foster good relationships with other professionals within the Denver Metro area.

Job Expectations

This person would be available and responsive Monday through Friday during business hours (excluding personal vacation and holidays) for phone calls and emails, spending more time in the office than out in the field. Some duties may include but are not limited to: building inspection activities; arranging training opportunities; supporting staff in resolving conflicts; establishing and implementing policies; and completing performance appraisals. This person would have regular communication with the President and alert him to any conditions in the field that are potentially troublesome or controversial.

Key Skills and Experience RequiredExperience and Training:

  • Five years of increasingly responsible construction experience, including familiarity with building, plumbing and mechanical construction.
    Three years working as a code official for a municipality or other building code agency.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in structural engineering, architecture or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, architects, contractors, and developers/landowners concerning building code requirements is critical.
  • Ability to show good and balanced judgment in applying codes to real-world circumstances with impartiality and fairness to meet the intent of the codes.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Suite and CCI software, as well as the use of iPhone and iPad.

License and Certificates:

ICC Certification for Building Official.
ICC Certification for Building Inspector.
ICC Certification for Mechanical Inspector.
ICC Certification for Plumbing Inspector.
ICC Certification for Plans Examiner.
Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Pay: $100,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
