FOUNDING FATHERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 BACKGROUND

The Education Committee presented a proposal to the Board of Directors in August 2020, to establish an annual scholarship to the Educational Institute in Gerry’s name. The Board enthusiastically supported the idea and provided a budget for awarding a scholarship for the 2022 Educational Institute. A sub-committee of the Education Committee was formed. This Institute Scholarship Program Committee (ISPC) was tasked with setting up the program, including eligibility, the application, and the selection process.

Andrew Rogers, Sr. Building Inspector/Plans Examiner, Town of Vail, was awarded the scholarship for the 2022 Educational Institute.

Dan Nickle, another Founding Father of the Educational Institute, passed away on April 28th, 2022. In 1982, he began a 25-year career with the City of Lakewood, Colorado, retiring in 2007.

Dan was the first ever recipient of the esteemed Colorado Chapter Beryl Wallace Award in 1991, served as Chapter President in 1993, served many years on the code change committee, was an Honorary member of the Kansas City Chapter, Colorado Chapter, ICBO, and ICC.
