Perform technical and administrative inspection work in the administration and enforcement of the Weld County Building Code, International Codes, and other applicable county regulations.
Supervision Received: Work under general supervision of an administrative superior.
Supervision Exercised: None.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of current building construction methods, materials, principles, practices. Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes and ordinances. Ability to read and interpret, plans and specifications submitted and approve or disapprove as appropriate.
•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to write in a legible manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, building owners, contractors and the public.
•Discuss technical problems, ordinances and codes with contractors, architects and the public; provide interpretations of codes independently or after consultation with supervisor. Attend meetings and functions relating to building aspects of code enforcement. Serve as committee member to evaluate new building products and processes for approval, as assigned.
•Provide technical direction and assistance on building inspections; discuss field inspection problems and procedures; answer technical questions regarding code enforcement; assist in inspection training program as assigned.
•Study codes and technical manuals; recommend changes in local codes or ordinance and office procedures to the supervisor or Director of Planning Services.
•Prepare special and periodic reports as assigned. Maintain routine records and files as directed. Report on gas used and log mileage driven daily; maintain files as necessary.
• Assist Inspectors and Building Compliance in conducting field inspections related to the administration and enforcement of the Weld County Code.
