The Town of Breckenridge Community Development Department is seeking a dedicated and uniquely qualified individual for the position of Chief Building Official. The incumbent in this position is responsible for planning, managing, and administering the Town’s building inspection, plans review, and permit programs and workflow within the Building Division. The individual will directly supervise staff associated with inspection of buildings and construction projects to ensure compliance with adopted building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and related codes and standards. The Chief Building Official plans, organizes and directs programs and activities concerned with compliance with building, safety, and zoning ordinances. This individual also ensures that Building Division staff is kept abreast of latest code provisions and technical developments in building code enforcement. The Chief Building Official administers the Town’s building code; regulates and controls the constructions and quality of material of building and structures in the Town; & recommends amendments to the adopted code.

A minimum of (10) ten years direct experience with building, construction, or inspection trades and/or pertinent plan review experience.

Plan Review Certification Required
Valid Colorado Driver’s License at time of employment.

A bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory and leadership experience.
Building Inspector Certification.
Plans Examiner Certification.
ICC Certified Building Official Certification.
