Planner II or III: Current Planning and Regulatory Services

SAFEbuilt Studio provides a range of community planning services to clients nationwide.  We seek a planning professional with current planning experience for an immediate opening in our Northglenn, Colorado office (northern Denver suburb).  This Planner II or III will work closely with our Colorado planning team on development review and regulatory drafting with job responsibilities that include:

Work on-site and remotely for public sector clients providing support for zoning, development review, and entitlements processes
Prepare for and attend public outreach events and public meetings
Assist with the creation of zoning ordinances and code-related projects, including: research, regulatory drafting, illustrating, mapping, and document layout and formatting
Assist with marketing and business development efforts

 

Applicants for this position must be able to work independently on concurrent projects in a relatively fast-paced environment that will include some overnight travel.  Key areas of experience include:

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of local government processes, including both development processing and commission/council dynamics
Experience with site plan document review and other associated land records
Ability to undertake detailed planning research in areas including specific regulatory topics, demographics and community trends, and best practices
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe design software, GIS, and SketchUp

 

Education: Masters’ Degree in planning or related field is preferred and an AICP certification is desirable.

 

Experience:  5+ years’ relevant experience in current planning/regulatory work; job title will be determined based on experience
