Larimer County is looking for an Electrical Inspector to join the Community Development Team. An Electrical Inspector inspects electrical systems in buildings and structures during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable code and regulations of county, state, and federal agencies.
Salary Range: $63,094.00 – $88,332.00 Annually
Specifically, this position:
Inspects residential, commercial, agricultural and other buildings and structures during construction for compliance with approved plans, the National Electrical Code and related ordinances.
Reads and interprets construction plans to determine that construction is in compliance with the approved plans and the electrical code.
Reviews submitted plans and specifications for compliance with adopted codes.
Confers with owners, contractors, architects, and engineers; explains and interprets requirements and restrictions of the electrical codes.
Performs other inspection duties as assigned by Lead Building Inspector, such as solar installations, miscellaneous permits, minor remodels and re-inspections.
Coordinates with other agencies such as local Fire Departments, County Health and Engineering as needed on inspections.
Investigates life/safety electrical code violations received from citizens or staff, documents and explains corrections needed, works to obtain code compliance; issues correction notices, stop work orders, and similar documents.
High School diploma or GED required.
Three (3) years’ experience as a journey-level electrician or higher required.
Possession of current Colorado license as a Journeyman or Master Electrician required.
Possession of a valid Driver’s License by date of hire required.
Possession of additional ICC certifications preferred.
