JOB BRIEF: This is a supervisory, professional, full-time position in which the Building Official ensures that plans for actual construction of all new and remodeled structures within the City of Lamar comply with building code and zoning requirements. He or she performs plan reviews and conducts inspections of new and existing residential and commercial projects. The Building Official coordinates departmental activities with other City departments. This individual has significant interactions with the public, building contractors, developers and City and/or other government personnel. Requirements: Five years of increasingly responsible experience including two years of supervisory experience. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: ICC Certified within six (6) months of hire in one of the four areas: 1) Structure 2) HVAC 3) Plumbing 4) Planning
