The City of Lafayette, Colorado is seeking an Electrical Inspector with Combination Inspection experience.  Experience with both residential and commercial construction is preferred.  Located in Boulder County, Colorado, the City of Lafayette offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, progressive, and eclectic community with a focus on safe building practices, maintaining a high quality of life and promotion of sustainability, the arts, and our natural resources.

The City will hire at the Senior Plans Examiner/Inspector level for individuals who possess all certifications. Candidates that do not possess ICC Plan Review Certification and/ or Combination Inspection certification will be considered with the expectation that on-the-job inspection and plan review training and will occur and the candidate will acquire the needed inspection/ plan review certifications within two years of hire.

The ideal candidate will have a current Journeyman’s or Master Electrician license and will have experience in either the public or private sector experience managing residential and commercial projects at the foreman or quality control level or will have experience providing inspection services to such projects.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will either have experience providing inspection services for the Building, Mechanical, and Plumbing  professions, or the desire to learn to provide these services.  A successful candidate will have the desire to learn residential and commercial plan review or have residential or commercial plan review experience.

This position is focused on providing electrical inspection services and will have the opportunity to expand into providing Combination inspection services and residential plan review for many different types of projects from basement finishes and remodels to solar installations.   The city is experiencing a diverse growth in building activity from new single-family dwellings and multi-family to new commercial buildings and tenant finish projects which will provide a fantastic challenge to correctly interpret the requirements of the adopted building codes.
