General Purpose

The Building Inspector I performs a variety of technical building inspections to ensure that all residential, commercial, and industrial construction complies with established standards, codes and ordinances designed to safeguard building occupants and the public.

Hiring Salary Ranges:
Building Inspector I – $44,683-$53,100
Building Inspector II – $50,446-$59,948
Plus excellent benefits and matching 401a contributions

Minimum Qualifications: 

Building Inspector I
High School diploma or GED and four years journey-level experience working in the building trades; or at least one year of experience working as a Building Inspector I and/or Plans Examiner I.  State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician license.

Building Inspector II

High School diploma or GED. Some college coursework preferred. Requires four years journey-level experience working in the building trades, and at least two years’ experience as a Building Inspector I or Plans Examiner I.  Also requires one of the following:

  • State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician  license and one (1) International Code Council Residential or Commercial Inspector certification in a discipline other than the license category.

    State of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician  license and one (1) International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Inspector certification in a discipline other than the license category.

    State of Colorado Master Electrician  license and one (1) International Code Council combination Residential / Commercial Inspector certification in a discipline other than the license category.
