Title: Permit Coordinator

Salary Range: $42,952.00 – $60,340.80 – Salary Offer Dependent on Qualifications

Position Overview:

The Permit Coordinator serves as a technical resource and liaison between the public, potential applicants, applicants, and permit review agency staff to ensure proper and efficient permit processing. Further, this position models the organization’s core values and mission in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Facilitates the coordinated permit review process for development projects. Provides a single point of contact (from project inception to permit issuance) and works to ensure that the entire review and approval process is timely, well-coordinated, efficient, and predictable, with the focus on successful project outcomes.
Serves as a technical resource regarding development process requirements for internal and external customers. Assists customers with their understanding and use of the City’s online permits management system
Reviews permit applications for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to requirements as outlined in the review agencies’ submittal guidelines. Based on the review, determines whether the submittal or resubmittal can be accepted. For incomplete applications, provides applicant with a detailed list of issues that must be corrected. Coordinates/distributes applications for review by appropriate agencies within established timeframes.
Maintains records management of electronic and paper departmental files. Inputs data and maintains the permits management system for building-related permits. Runs various system-generated reports, as needed.

Regulations: Knowledge of relevant laws, legal building and planning codes, and agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

Two years of professional experience in building/planning services, project management, or office management.
Associate degree in a construction-related program, business administration, or related field.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to read and interpret construction related documents such as blueprints, and have previous experience with electronic land use planning or permitting software.
