SUMMARY:2026 NEC Update: Key Changes\, Impacts\, and Applications
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Hope Medina – 4 hours \nThere are many questions surrounding the Colorado Model Low Energy Carbon Code.  How does a project demonstrate compliance with these revised provisions and how does the design and code requirement protect the safety\, health\, and welfare of the occupants\, workers\, and general public? This training will address the provisions with a focus on commercial construction\, as we highlight how construction plans can demonstrate compliance and promote success in addressing the statutorily established goal of building codes in promoting and preserving public safety.  \nInstructor: Robert Huerta – 4 hours \nThis four-hour course provides a comprehensive overview of the significant changes introduced in the 2026 National Electrical Code (NEC). Designed for inspectors\, electricians\, engineers\, and code professionals\, the class breaks down new requirements\, revisions to existing articles\, and emerging technologies driving these updates. Participants will explore how these changes impact design\, installation\, and inspection practices\, with practical examples to support real-world application. \nThrough guided discussion\, code analysis\, and scenario-based learning\, attendees will gain clarity on the intent behind the revisions and how to apply the new provisions confidently and consistently in the field. \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:August 14 Event - Durango
DESCRIPTION:International Fuel Gas Plan Review and Inspection – 2 Hours \nThis training focuses on the critical aspects of fuel gas plan review and inspection\, equipping industry professionals with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate state licensing laws and rules effectively. Participants will gain insights into the International Code Council Fuel Gas Contractor Exam\, preparing them for successful certification and compliance in the field. Through a combination of lectures\, interactive discussions\, and hands-on activities\, attendees will enhance their understanding of the regulatory environment surrounding fuel gas systems and improve their inspection skills. \nArtificial Intelligence and its Impact on the Building Industry – 2 Hours \nThe promise of this new generation of Artificial Intelligence software is that it has all the answers. The reality is that there is great opportunity in Large Language Model (LLM) applications\, but it comes with unique challenges\, especially if it is trying to be a resource for building and safety codes. This session will cover those challenges both from the perspective of a user trying to evaluate and utilize AI tools for building codes\, and from the view of those on the software side trying to build and train those tools. The session will help members understand where AI meaningfully fits into plan review\, permitting\, and inspection workflows using real examples of how jurisdictions are adopting these tools today \nPreview of 2027 I-Codes  2 Hours \nThe 2027 I-Codes are expected to be released in fall 2026. In anticipation of the release\, ICC’s team will give highlights of significant changes in the 2027 International Residential Code (IRC)\, International Building Code (IBC)\, International Plumbing Code (IPC)\, International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and International Fire Code (IFC) as well as the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) and International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Politics & Code 101: Advocacy for the Code Official
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Andre Jaen \nBuilding codes don’t exist in a vacuum—they’re shaped and implemented through political decisions at every level of government. This class helps code officials understand their vital role in that process. Participants will explore how legislative and local government actions influence code adoption\, enforcement\, and evolution\, and how officials can ethically and effectively engage in advocacy. The session covers Colorado’s legislative structure\, key decision makers\, the difference between advocacy and lobbying\, and real examples showing how policy affects building safety\, housing\, and energy performance. Practical strategies for engaging with local councils\, boards\, and legislators will help strengthen the voice of the code community while maintaining credibility and neutrality. \nClick Here to Register
